Assouan Dahabiya

Assouan is an intimate dahabiya offering a relaxed, small-group way to cruise the Nile. The vessel features two panoramic suites and six standard cabins, each with large windows and a private bath or shower. Onboard amenities include a sun deck, a small pool, WiFi, bar and lounge areas, a gift shop and 24-hour doctor on call. Itinerary

Day Day 01 — Monday — Esna

On arrival at Luxor airport or train station you will be met and assisted, then join your Egyptologist for a guided visit to Esna. Explore the small but evocative Temple of Khnum, which lies below street level, and wander the town's market streets. Return to the dahabiya for your first night aboard in Esna.

Day Day 02 — Tuesday — El Kab & Edfu

The dahabiya sails toward El Kab on the east bank, where you will visit the temple of Nekhbet and the decorated tombs in the necropolis after a walk through a local fishing village. In the afternoon the boat calls at Edfu for a visit to the well-preserved Temple of Horus; a horse-and-carriage ride brings you to the site. Later you sail to a nearby island for the night.

Day Day 03 — Wednesday — Sail & Swim

A day spent on and beside the Nile: an optional morning walk precedes a leisurely sail. In the afternoon stop at an island for a riverside stroll or a swim. At dusk there may be an opportunity to walk into a nearby desert valley lined with boulders bearing ancient inscriptions. Overnight at the foot of the floodlit Gebel Silsileh temple.

Day Day 04 — Thursday — Gebel Silsileh

Explore Gebel Silsileh where the Nile narrows between mountain ranges. Visit the small temple of Horemheb and the sandstone quarries used in antiquity, then relax at a local café with tea and shisha. The afternoon includes a stop at a scenic riverbank for lunch and swimming.

Day Day 05 — Friday — Kom Ombo

Cruise to Kom Ombo and visit its Ptolemaic riverside temple, dedicated in part to the crocodile god Sobek. Nearby you will find the Crocodile Museum, which displays mummified crocodiles and materials relating to the animal's cult in the region.

Day Day 06 — Saturday — Aswan & Departure

Enjoy breakfast aboard the dahabiya before being transferred to Aswan airport or train station for your onward journey.
